How long will it take to get your degree or certification?

LICENSED PRACTICAL / LICENSED VOCATIONAL NURSE:

Most LPV/LVN programs take one year to finish. Upon completion you will be qualified to take the NCLEX-PN® examinations.

REGISTERED NURSE:

Assiociate Degree:
An associates degree leading to an ADN license will require a 2 year commitment. These programs are normally offered at community colleges although, some are also offered at four-year universities and colleges. Upon completion you will be qualified to take the NCLEX-RN® examinations.

Bachelor of Science:
BSN degrees are offered by universities and colleges and take 4 years to complete. Upon completion you will be qualified to take the NCLEX-RN® examinations. A BSN is also required prior to entering an MSN program.

Master of Science:
An MSN takes and additional 2-3 years beyond a bachelors degree, and will qualifiy you to be an Advanced Practice Nurse.

The time frames mentioned above assume full time enrollment in school. Many schools offer part time alternatives with schedules to fit the working student. Some schools also offer accelerated courses of study, so check with the individual schools to find the schedule that fits your needs best.
