Nursing Programs In New Jersey

Nursing programs in New Jersey offer students with Licensed Practical Nursing and Registered Nurse courses. Some institutes also offer students with the option to study Licensed Practical Nurse courses leading to Registered Nurse bridge programs.



Program Listing:

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

The licensed practical nurse programs offered in the state of New Jersey, are designed with focus on hands on clinical and practical training. Students are not only taught theory, but for a twelve to eighteen week tenure they are also exposed to practical on job training. Students are also required to attend and complete a set number of lab hours to learn research techniques and protocol. Students who successfully complete LPN programs become eligible for a number of nursing jobs within the state of New Jersey.

Registered Nurse (RN)

Institutes in New Jersey also offer Registered Nurse programs. Students who enroll in these programs are required to complete a number of courses and appear for the Registered Nurse (RN) exam.  Successful candidates can then take up careers in a number of health care institutes across the country.  Courses in Registered Nurse programs entail various aspects of the nursing profession, teaching students country wide practices and standard procedures.

Dual/Bridge Programs

While most institutes in New Jersey offer LPN and RN programs individually, there are many that also offer bridge programs. These allow students who successfully complete an LPN program to study additional courses and sit for the RN exam as well. These dual programs allow students with the ability to take up jobs that are local to New Jersey as well as in other states.

Career Outlook and Income

After enrolling in nursing programs in New Jersey, students who successfully complete licensed practical nurse and registered nurse programs may be able to get jobs in hospitals and clinics. They may also be able to secure positions in emergency health care and emergency response teams.  As reported by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, in 2012, the mean annual wage for Registered Nurses in the state of New Jersey was $ 84,120.
